People love to speak of this show as rape and torture porn in such a hackneyed manner, without recognising anything of merit about it. I's rivalled only by The Handmaid's Tale

I find this puzzling because the worst, most impossible-to-watch torture porn I have ever seen is in a show I otherwise love - season 2 of Vikings Valhalla. They literally linger lovingly and gratuitously over torture details...but strangely, nobody ever mentions it

Probably because barely anyone watched Vikings Valhalla

I have watched all of Hanmaid's Tale and I can give you an in-depth take on why I think it has no overarching vision outside of misery porn.

I'll pass on that kind offer as it doesn't sound like an enjoyable read lol

I'm just saying that "oh you just don't get it bro" is a hell of a way to dismiss all criticism out of hand.

I never said that although plenty of people do, which must quite stressful for you lol

People are free to use whatever words they wish to provided they are not downright offensive (and I'm pretty sure somebody saying they don't get something is not in that category)

No, but you're saying "Oh, people just miss the deeper themes" whereas I'm saying that it's a moot point when the show is such a clusterfuck of abandoned plotlines and characters that nothing has its intended effect. It's not deep.

Did not say that either

You love to put words into people's mouths and attempting any kind of convo under those conditions is more trouble than its worth

My best advice for you is to simply not watch it if you don't like it and stop obsessing over whether or not others agree with you

Actually, I haven't watched the TV show, but found both books (The Handmaid's Tale and The Testaments) to be fantastic in their own right, and I'm not into misery.
