Found it on Disney + the other day so I’m just in the first season. The show feels weirdly fresh although I remember watch the almost 20 years ago.

I first became aware of Dennis in a short arc of Hill Street Blues episodes where he played the shady cop Sal Benedetto. He made such an impression that he came back as Det. Buntz, which led to his own show and then the co-lead in NYPD Blue.
Honestly a genuinly good procedural
David Caruso should never have left the show. He was perfect.
He has a pretty good arc and grows as a character. NYPD Blue along with Homicide Life on the Streets are peak 90s cop shows
Perfect!
One of those old channels (H&I) ran it for a couple of years back in 2018 and 2019. I was able to catch it then. Hopefully, it resurfaces again soon.
We get a lot of oldie channels. METV, Cozi, Antenna and Decades. Then there's TBS, TNT, FX, WETV and Sundance that show Law and Order reruns 24/7. You'd think one of them could pick it up.
For sure, love all those oldie channels!
I think the other problem now though, is that Disney took ownership of that property a couple of years ago, and they may want to reserve it for their streaming service. Even though it's an older show, it still has some drawing power.
Homicide Life on the Streets did not get enough love while it was on, and it has turned out to be so hugely influential on shows that came afterwards. Still one of my faves.
I love Dennis Franz. Check out the movie American Buffalo.

I love it too. I wish one of the channels around her that's so fond of running other old shows would pick it up.
