Both shows essentially end with a longer version of the opening credits playing over scenes of all the characters we've seen in the show in their current, or in new roles, many of the taking up the mantle of those that came before them.

Probably coincidence, probably just generic also, but I thought it was kind of cool that too my favorite shows end the same way.

I think a lot of shows end like this. Dragon Ball GT and Hunter x Hunter did as well.

A lot of David Simon stuff does that. Generation Kill had a similar scene to end the miniseries. Excellent series, btw. If you liked The Wire, you should check it out.

But the true ending is the final adventure time special.

Syndor becomes the new McNulty. Michael becomes Omar. Slim becomes the new Prop* Joe. Dukie becomes the new Bibbles. Valchek becomes the new Burrel.

The ending of season 5 is clear. Players change but the game stays the same.
