A few 90's sci-fi series jump to mind:
- DS9 and Babylon 5... star bases and space diplomacy
- Farscape and the Lexx... space weirdness and high jinx

Love me the Jim Henson puppets on Farscape.
I found Lexx randomly on the Roku Channel and watched that for a while and had to go on TV Tropes to understand in detail what I was watching.
Lexx is what Farscape would be if it was more lewd-in-disguise (referring to the way Lexx got around censorship.)
It was a Canadian/German production, so, that might explain some things. Might.
Between the two, gotta go with FarScape. Much more tighter in terms of story. And again, Jim Henson puppets.
