Well he's right. If you passed out and hit your head, the difference of time between the next person walking right in vs someone thinking it's locked because someone's using it could be the difference of life or death.

They should but I wouldn't count on it. I was working at a grocery store when an autistic teen locked themselves in the bathroom and refused their mother's pleas to come out for quite some time. No one at the store could find the key. Eventually the mother persuaded them to exit. If there was an emergency on the other side of that door, it would have had to of been opened by force.
