For context, I'm 17f. I live with my mom, and she's very against alcohol. Like, religious and conservative plus trauma from my father (who was an abusive alcoholic).

Well, last night I was bored and, as is the tendency of teenagers, felt like doing something stupid. So, I drove to a sketchy gas station, bought some pink moscato wine and skittles, and drove back home. The cashier didn't id me so it worked out lol.

Then I attempted to drink my wine at 1am. That stuff was disgusting though, so I ended up just pouring it down the sink and leaving a the half full wine glass in the sink...

I then went to bed.

I just woke up, my mom woke up hours ago and has been downstairs for a looong time. The kitchen smelled like alcohol. There was a half full glass of wine in the sink...

TL;DR my verrry religious mom 100% knows I drink alcohol underage now fml

You clearly don't live in fear of her consequences if you were that careless, so I doubt you fucked up.

Exactly, especially if they didn't drink the whole bottle (then I might believe a tipsy teenager could forget a half glass)

The only thing you can learn from this FU is that a $9 Cab from Walmart would have been a much better choice. You would have finished the glass and avoided getting caught. But for realz, hope you don't catch too much shit for this.

I get that we all make bad choices from time to time, but kiddo- you need to apologize to your mom. For one, it’s illegal but maybe even more importantly, you know how against alcohol your mom is and the reasons why. This is bigger than being bored, it’s super disrespectful.

It could be super triggering to her as well. This isn’t one of those parents being overboard with their rules. You gotta sort this out and be honest.

I’m sorry that you’ve had such a difficult experience. And Reddit can be a cruddy place with knee-jerk reactions and lack of context. So, let me come at it from a different angle- I get you’re hurting and looking for outlets to escape or cope or deal. It’s really hard. There’s no words or magic that makes it easier. But I wanna encourage you (if you’re not already) to seek treatment. Trauma is an ugly monster that can be a challenge to cope with and there’s a ton of people who have walked that road. Stay safe and be well.

If you're depressed drinking and cutting there are deeper issues then disrespect going on you should be open and honest with your mom and tell her everything. You need counseling from a good therapist and not one that will just goes "uh huh, yes, tell me what you think?" You need one that will help you give you the tools to move through the trauma and deal with it so you can accomplish your potential in life and believe you me trauma does hold you back.
