I assume you mean cooking oil, rather than oil at boiling temperature? Wouldn't it be better to get some prescibed ointment for your condition?

Calling dipping your balls in oil a hobby seems a bit weird

I would consider it hobby due to my personal preference, because most do not use boiling version. Yes I do mean cooking oil friend, thank you. What sort of ointment?
