AND, when Clash opened for the Who at Yankee Stadium, guitarist Joe Strummer collected fans on the NYC subway on his way to the gig from his Manhattan hotel. At the stadium, he told the gatekeeper that if his “friends” weren’t allowed in (for free), he wasn’t playing. Guess who won ???

Though at the time it didn't get a lot of critical acclaim, I really enjoyed that album. I remember listening to it over and over in college. I think I'll listen to the whole thing again today.

Had a few really good tracks on it and a lot of interesting, sometimes unusual, stuff in between.

And I still want to lose this skin.

Lose this skin! What a track! I know the album gets slated but it’s diverse, original, creative and experimental. The level of production and musical talent involved is incredible and Steve Bells cartoons too. That’s it, I’m listening to it tomorrow.

Funny you mentioned that.

This was THE album I’d listen to on my Walkman cassette player when flying for a home visit from college.

To this day, I think I have the entire album still memorized.

Saw Strummer live in ‘99 in a small venue. When he started his first song and his voice hit me, it was transcendent. Great concert!

Fucking lying, cheating record companies.

Also, "the record only sold 198,000 copies, boys. The other 5 million were promotional giveaways and the like. So you owe us $5 million."
