It does exist and very strongly in some cases but it's more about recognition and preservation of culture than secessionism.

It's pretty darn huge. States were created on the basis of language (not the only criteria), so it's basically been pushed down a level due to federation.

That's not linguistic nationalism, Assamese tolerated their nuisances for long and are still tolerating. There is still anti-Bengali(people) sentiment, language is not a main reason. Illegal migrations from bangladesh, occupying of land are some of the main reasons.

It’s not? Then what is linguistic nationalism? If Bengalis being killed to make Assamese a dominant language or Bengalis dying to get their language recognised as official language is not? Or Tamils burning themselves to death to protest Hindi imposition?

When Tamils ask for a independence because of language, that is linguistic nationalism. And currently it is nearly non-existent
