Dolly is a for profit personality. Sure she gives back to her community, but her wide acceptance of people is 2 fold: she never wants others to feel ostracized and the more accessible she seems the wider her customer base.

My father, back in the early 70s, told me that if I ever married a black ("colored") girl, he would disown me. I could be friends, but don't ever marry one. Bing was born in 1903 and my father was born in 1922, so roughly the same era.
