Depending on where in Asia you come from, it may be way colder than you are used to, in the winter it is not uncommon for it to be -15 Celsius or below. Combined with lack of sun that can be hard. The population here is very small, less than one million people in the whole state, the largest city is about 50,000 people. If you like outdoor activities and can manage very cold and dark winters, Vermont might be for you.

You'll love it. Try to make friends with classmates from around the area, they'll be more than happy to show you around. I was pretty good friends with a student from China and I even taught him how to ski lol.

Are you considering the University of Vermont (UVM) or another university? Generally UVM, Burlington has a welcoming atmosphere and have students from all over of different cultures. There's a good page about that on their website

Snowshoeing is hardly popular among college kids but I would include ice skating/hockey

to add to the good list already provided:
disc golf, fishing, swimming (in the summer, there are nice lakes for it here), hunting in the fall (deer, ducks) are also very popular
