I'll give benefit of the doubt here and assume this is a serious question.

Rarely is life so black and white that some is good or bad. Is burning a book in and of itself a "bad" thing? I think no (apologies, librarians!) This book is no more important to me than any other junk mail i get, so i see no problem in burning one book, by myself, in my stove. Just as i wouldn't give a fig if you took a book, any book, and burned it in your stove.

Where i see book burning becoming problematic is when it is used to incite a group against another group. Intentionally seeking out a book, be it dr. Seuss, the talmud, the koran, to kill a mockingbird, or any of the myriad books that folks have chosen to burn, en masse, over the years, is very different than having a book foisted on you. Book burning rallies are often an attempt to "other" a specific, usually minority, group, to dehumanize them and their culture and often to incite violence towards them.

What i have done here isn't that. I haven't called for violence, nor persecution of the the 7th day Adventists. Instead, i view this as a transgression on the part of the 7th day Adventists. As the aggressors here, they chose to send this to me and, in a small act of self-defense, I've chosen to burn this piece of shit. I'm not seeking out other copies to burn, nor advocating the eradication of 7th day Adventists and their thinking through violence. This is the difference between burning a book in my stove and holding a klan rally book burning.
