That one cop is lucky they didn't get shot in the back of their head. Running in front of someone with their gun drawn as shooting started. Jesus.

And the woman in-between them, this is a bad watch.

Hold up. Saratoga Springs has 28,000 people living in it. Brattleboro has 12,000. They said this is the first time in 26 years an officer has discharged their weapon? I can list numerous times over the last couple of years police have discharged their weapons in Brattleboro, Including killing multiple people. Wtf Brattleboro...

Maybe off duty? Because a cop shot someone in Ludlow a few months ago (suicide by cop).

Probably 15 years ago now, but a state trooper shot and killed someone outside of Stewart’s in Rutland if I’m not mistaken.

What slippery slope? This is the first time a cop shot someone in Saratoga in 26 years. That's a pretty good run. And who cares if hes a cop, he was brandishing a gun and refusing to drop it. He should know better than anyone else what happens when you aim a gun at cops. This really just goes to show how unqualified Vermont Sheriffs are... What are you trying to "turn around"? This isnt like some drug or crime wave, just a dumb cop.

You got Rutland and Utica shooting at each other. Yeah, that's about right!

It doesn’t apply since both men were drunk, aggressive and armed. Even if the deputy didn’t start the fight he was out drinking at three in the morning while carrying which is extremely stupid and generally illegal. He then was dumb enough to not drop the gun after repeated orders to do so and he’s lucky to be alive.

Dumb off duty cop in a different state should have immediately dropped the gun upon command. There is always time for explanations after the scene is secure.

There’s def something being covered up or at least Muffled for the simple fact that no info on the Utica suspects has been released yet.

I’m in bratt too and the only time I remember this happening was this year when they killed that guy who murdered someone. I’m sure there’s more I just haven’t heard of and I’m curious, do you know where I can find info on how many police shootings we’ve had?

This is just a reminder if how dumb people are. And just because you're a cop, doctor, lawyer, anything, doesn't mean you can't be dumb. Cops don't make a lot, you're under a lot of pressure. You're not going to attract the best and brightest . It's always the bad or dumb one's they give any profession, a bad name.

The "Rutland County" cop is a Glenn's Falls resident. He commutes for work.

My bet is he was getting mugged.

I'm guessing he was relying too much on his LE status and forgot an important part of defensive firearm use is reholstering since other CCWs and responding LE don't know who's who when the leadswapping contest ends.
