As title states, flying up to Boston in late January and would like to drive up to Vermont for the weekend. There are a few spots in the Rutland area that I want to visit as I used to live there when I was younger but does anyone have any suggestions for other neat spots to visit during the Winter?
Significant other isn't interested in skiing unfortunately which eliminates some options.

Just be careful, most rental have balding summer tires and may or may not even provide you with an insufficient ice scraper.
Enjoy a spa in the Killington area?
1.) Make sure your tires are up to snuff, it only dusted the other day in southern Vermont and I saw at least 3 flipped out-of-state cars without winter/studded tires.
2.) Do they like fine dining? In Walpole, NH there's a chocolaterie and restaurant called Burdick's, the tea room has phenomenal pastries, handmade chocolates, desserts, and drinking chocolate, which blows watery hot cocoa out of the water. They also have a restaurant side that does amazing cocktails and food (this is a $$ joint)
3.) We have a ton of pancake houses, cozy diners, and artisans over by Dummerston/Putney/Westminster; glassblowers, pottery, winery, hikes, madam Sherie's castle ruins and walks which are gorgeous in the winter when snow falls.
4.) Rutland is gross, if you want a busier city with options, try Burlington, a ton of eateries and places to see up North.
January is a dead month except for the ski towns, but there are skating rinks, sledding options and lifts, and nature hikes and walks.
If you're gunna look at the more rural towns, farmlands, the valley, make sure you have a good paper map and download the region on gps before you go too far around the mountains, it's a good chance you might get stuck in the snow at some point.
Vermont is best enjoyed in June-Sept, we have snow till May most years.

Drive to Woodstock. It's very pretty in the Winter. The Billings farm and museum a Are super cozy and very sweet.
Snow tires or at least AWD.

Prepare to be a bit bummed about the state of Rutland. Other than that I got nothing really. I’ve been enjoying Middlebury lately but I can’t think of any “winter” things to do there. Just cute shops and decent eats.
Downtown Rutland is generally in better shape than it was 15 years ago. Outside of the drug hotels on route 7 the town has improved a lot.
Interesting. I went to CKS & MSJ in the 90s and have only recently been back since then. It's a bit depressing, honestly. Sad to hear it was even worse, but glad to hear it's on an upswing.
I've only driven through a few times, but I daresay it actually looks kind of nice these days.
