Dad was in the RAF and we lived on various bases my entire childhood.

In that entire time nothing was as loud as watching a Vulcan flypast at an airshow in the mid-70's. I remember a can of Coke resting on top of the car being shuffled across the roof as it flew by.

I'm envious of you. I never saw a Vulcan, but fell in love with them when I saw a documentary about how Vulcans were used in the bombing of the Falkland Islands. So audacious to use moth-balled aircraft for one last mission, to fly half-way round the world as a reminder that even mainland South America could be targeted if needed. Old technology that still carried an unexpected punch.
