>If you want to make your grandpa proud, invest in a company that is doing well and has a bright future. A good example would be Amazon.

Did your grandpa ever complain about how something is changing and he doesn't like it? Buy calls on whatever is related to it. If you win, gramps can feel good that at least his degen grandson could make a few bucks on it. If you lose, gramps got his revenge on whatever it was that he was grumpy about, because it went down.

Some kind of penny stock … like Ardelyx, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARDX) : a Waltham, Massachusetts-based biotech company founded in 2007. The company has the distinction of developing and commercializing the first-in-class therapeutic for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. Furthermore, the company has therapeutics for the treatment of hyperphosphatemia, hyperkalemia, and metabolic acidosis in the pipeline.link

Sorry to hear about the passing of your grandfather. It sounds like he was a good guy and just wanted you to succeed.

Unfortunately, $1000 isn't a lot. If you have debt, please take care of that first. If "the standard" is 8-10% per year in the market and your Credit Card interest rate is at +17% it'd be smarter and more cost-effective to pay that off first.

Or full port $BOIL and pray. Either or.
