Are you trying to keep it strictly to places within DC? Just curious.

Yes, DC proper only

Your site, but may I suggest DC + metro accessible at least. For example, this sub will overwhelmingly vote Pho 75 the best in that category and it's in Rosslyn

Even the Michelin guide isn't that strict

I'll jump in with (perhaps unpopular) encouragement to keep it to DC-proper only. There are plenty of "DC's bests" lists with half of the recommendations in Maryland or Virginia (which is very frustrating!). I think we hear less about some places truly in DC because the geography of those lists gets so spread out.

Folks who want to see MD/VA places can go to those other lists (to be clear, I'm not snarking on the suburbs, just want to see a DC list that really is just DC).

Thanks for bringing attention to some DC neighborhood favorites!

I get what you’re saying, but the best KBBQ, phỡ, Indian food, taco, or other non-American cuisine is often hard to rank higher than what’s available out in the burbs.

Agree with that and really glad we have all those in the region. But there are loads of lists that rank the whole area, including suburbs, and we can look at those when we want to venture out of the District (and have a car, want to pay lots of ride fare or spend lots of time on metro and/or bus).

Looks like OP is doing a true District-best rather than a best-of-within-25-miles and want to say I appreciate the approach. Excited to know more about places I can easily walk or bike to in the District!
