As a foreginer, DC is one of America's most appealing and safe feeling big cities. There's nothing to fear at all. This place is great. Full of stuff to do and places to hang out. There's nowhere in the States I'd rather be.

Where are you from? Because I know Mexico is more dangerous but in America we shouldn’t accept that

I'm from the United Kingdom, and the US homicide rate is about 10 times higher than the rate in the UK. Mexico is around 5 times higher than the USA.

Maybe I should leave...

Accept what? I've lived in and around DC my entire adult life - went to college here and have worked here. The city is absolutely fine. Frankly, I feel much more uncomfortable going to places in the US where everyone is and has a right to be armed. The parts of DC where you'd be better off not venturing to are places you aren't going to be going to anyway, because they're so far off the beaten path.

I’m following the blog of a guy and his wife and dog who retired into a camper van and have been rolling around mexico for over a year now. They’re still alive and haven’t had the van stolen or been kidnapped or shot by cartels or anything.
