No where 😬

I recommend going to the nearest metro station and parking there if you absolutely have to drive, use the metro to get downtown and voila! You avoid the traffic hellscape cherry blossom season brings. Enjoy!

Oh weekends, yes. Where are you coming from? Not every station has parking.

🤦‍♀️ Ok, if you’re really in Odenton you’re going to have a bit of a drive to a Metro station, but it will still be better than trying to drive downtown. Odenton is a MARC station, and you'd have to check and see if those trains run on Sundays. Otherwise drive to the Greenbelt Metro and take the train in from there.

Does the Greenbelt Metro have parking? Is a parking garage really that hard to find in DC?

1

keyjan t1_jdqjmt8 wrote

Yes, and at this time of year, on a weekend, yes. Office buildings all have garages, but they might not be open on weekends.

keyjan t1_jdp7al3 wrote

You will spend 70 mins of that in traffic or trying to park. Take the train.

You'll need to leave 2 hours before you plan on being there. One of the weather reports on tv tonight was using a view of the tidal basin and the traffic that had been sitting there for two hours as background.

Take the train.

No I mean park your car at the Metro and take the Metrorail or light rail (some stations only) in …Ubers sit in the same traffic and DC traffic sucks.

NYVlone t1_jdqozph wrote

If I'll be coming from Maryland, can I take the MARC to Union Station, then take a light rail?

1

Scooney92 t1_jdqpi4b wrote

Yes, the MARC train is considered Light Rail…the Metrorail intersects at Union Station so you can switch there and take it wherever you want. Union Station is a perfect location to board your buses, get an Uber, taxis, etc. so you’ll have many options available to you. You can also walk to the Capitol from there which is basically the top end of the National Mall and work your way down by foot if you’d like. There’s also rental scooters and bikes everywhere.

So Greenbelt MARC to Union Station then Uber/Bike my way to the Washington Monument?

1

Scooney92 t1_jdqqmwk wrote

You could absolutely do that…short trip.

Is Greenbelt Expensive?

Scooney92 t1_jdr2bv0 wrote

You can also just get on the Metrorail at Greenbelt and go straight to the station nearest the Washington Monument

1

NYVlone t1_jdr6yvv wrote

What station is that?

Scooney92 t1_jdr77ot wrote

Actual name is “Smithsonian National Mall”station

Can I walk to the Monument from there?

Yes

NYVlone t1_jdrb116 wrote

so I can take the MARC from Odenton or Greenbelt to the Smithsonian station?

1

Scooney92 t1_jdrbtov wrote

You can either drive to Greenbelt and take the MARC or Metrorail. If you do that, you might as well take the Metrorail so you can go straight to the National Mall station. If you prefer to take the MARC from Odenton, you might as well take it all the way to Union Station and then either switch to the Metrorail for National Mall or any of the other means available (walk, scooter, Uber, taxi, etc).

NYVlone t1_jdrcfl5 wrote

I think I can drive to PG county and take the Metrorail:) Thanks for your help!

Scooney92 t1_jdrdw47 wrote

No problem…Greenbelt station is right off the Beltway by the intersection of the Beltway and Route 50.

It will take you that long just to find parking lol
