My parents are visiting for a big birthday this winter. Group will be four of their children/children’s SOs, in late 20s to mid 30s, and the two of them, around 60. They are city people and like bars. We’ll go to a nice dinner and want to take them out after, to places that feel fun, lively, and celebratory, but with a crowd that skews above early 20s and preferably is pretty mixed-age. Preferably 14th/U Street/Dupont/Adams Morgan/Shaw areas, but open. Thinking about Barcelona Wine Bar, but I’m not sure if you can make a reservation just to drink (and maybe a snack) rather than eat a whole meal. I also love Jane Jane but I imagine it will be impossible to get in with 6 people. Other ideas?

Service Bar or Archipelago would be great spots that take reservations.

Might I suggest Dan's Cafe. Get the gimlet and sleeve of crackers.

I love Green Zone but I don’t think you can make reservations for 6, and reservations are patio-only (I’d prefer indoors given the season). And getting in with 6 with no reservation on a Saturday night seems unlikely.

I’ve had a good time with a similar group at Jack Rose and/or Dram & Grain, which used to be affiliated with Jack Rose but now appears to be part of The Imperial down the block? Anyway, they take reservations and it’s the right cozy vibe for this time of year.

Flight in Gallery Place a nice win bar with an up-scale feel at reasonable prices. It's a great place to start the night but not a great place to end it (it closes kinda early).

Maiz64, amazing food and cocktails. I recommend their Mezcal room downstairs. It’s on 14th.
