If you own a Hyundai or Kia without a chipped key, you need to be on the look out and get a steering wheel lock.
These cars are extremely easy to steal, other cites have seen an enormous spike in Kia and Hyundai thefts, it’s coming to DC now. Insurance is starting to drop these cars in other states because of so many thefts.

Modern vehicles have a chip in the key that is paired to the vehicle…it essentially won’t allow a car to start without the chip (key) in proximity

Most modern cars manufactures have chipped (transponder) keys, a lot of newer Kias and Hyundais do not!

That’s crazy, even my 02 Acura has a chipped key

Yeah, it’s not new technology by any means. Hyundai and Kia really screwed up here.

You get what you pay for.

I can’t argue with that. Unfortunately, a lot of buyers of these affordable cars can not afford to get them stolen and miss work or pay out of pocket for repairs.
