I didn't read the article, but the headline is only pointing out that the last CUB IN IRAN'S CAPTIVITY has died. It's not saying the very last Asiatic Cheetah, ever, has died..

Give it another 5-10 years. Not only cheetahs, but many other species... You'll get used to reading "officially declared extinct" about as often as "record breaking heat in January"

I really wasn't making any sort of statement about my thoughts or opinions. I was just correcting the top comment on this post because it seemed like they misunderstood what it was saying. But thanks anyways for the dire warning...

I did read the article, and it says there are only twelve left. Losing one out of thirteen is still significant.
