This is a policy that dates back to the 40s and 50s, it has nothing to do with putin.

Well I'm happy Finland will be joining, since we need countries with a backbone on the frontier of NATO and Russia, and not ones that self impose restrictions on the intelligence activities of the alliance.

We have clearly seen there is nothing to gain by milquetoast attempts not to "provoke" Russia.
