What can possibly go wrong if Japan launches a first strike against North Korea, Russia, or China?

First strike capability just means having missiles and bombs that can be used against an enemy on their turf instead of waiting for them to come get shot. The Ukraine war shows that if you don’t have the range to strike your enemies in their bases, you will be shot at with missiles until you don’t have infrastructure anymore.

If that happens something has already gone horribly wrong
