Every country in the world should abandon those miserable assholes. No companies, no aid, no nothing.

There’s almost no other way to help the Afghan people at this point. NGOs were the only real go-between left as a working option after the Taliban took back over.
TheRedHand7 t1_j1kk0vr wrote
The question is if the aid is really worth anything given that the Taliban will simply steal anything of value and continue to make it more and more difficult to reach the folks in need with what little remains.

That’s really the hope the world started banking on after the withdrawal…. Text book example of wishing in one hand.

What is an NGO
LessGoooo t1_j1k6n89 wrote
Non-Governmental Organization. Think international charities, contractors, or aid groups that support civilians or governments in underdeveloped or war-torn regions of the world.

Weirdly a lot of the Taliban actually grew up in Pakistan. They speak a different dialect than most Afghans.

So they just want women to stay home and what? Just be birthing pods?
Wurm42 t1_j1jc714 wrote
Birthing pods with no medical care, because they say male doctors can't see female patients, but they don't want women to be doctors and nurses anymore either....

Yeah and the part that's really interesting is that the population doubled in the 20 years between Taliban control. They went from 20 million to 40 million and they have been experiencing droughts recently as well. It's estimated that more than 50% of Afganies are experiencing food shortages. I'm not too sure the Taliban can stave off mass famine without the help of the NGOs. The future of Afganistan really looks dim.

Yes and they want people who aren’t like them to die. Definitely a paragon of the human race…

> Afghanistan's Taliban ordered all local and foreign non-governmental organisations to stop female employees from coming to work, according to an economy ministry letter, Reuters reported.
> The latest crackdown on women's rights in the country comes as the letter said the female employees were not allowed to work until further notice because some had not adhered to the administration's interpretation of Islamic dress code for women.
> Earlier, Associated Press reported that Taliban security forces used a water cannon to disperse women protesting the ban on university education.

Please pull the NGOS out of the country. None of our government money should go to these assholes
danque t1_j1lopo7 wrote
NGO are charity organizations. That's what NG stands for (non-government). So no, none of your 'government money' is going to there.
[deleted] t1_j1lrxtl wrote
Many NGOs receive funding from local, state, and federal government entities through grants. A grant is a financial award given to an organization with a specific purpose. Grants help provide funding for medical research, economic development, educational advances, and various projects that provide public services.

Time to leave the afghans to their own misery imo. They want our money but not our values. If they want to live in the Stone Age , fine. Cut them off

By... not showing up? NGOs are charities and aid organizations. No government ordered them in there, you know, hence the whole "Non-Government" part of NGO. They can choose to leave just that easily.
Their money is better served in a country where the government is trying to get its shit together and pull its people out of poverty, like any one of 15 nations in Africa.

Capitalism is what drives women's rights. A stay at home mother is a person who isn't maximally contributing to the capitalist system. Perhaps if America had invested in Afghanistan by entering into resource extraction partnerships, women would have had a chance. Instead, Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden only cared about the bullshit stories they could get in the news, about how 15 Afghan women graduated college. Well, there's no colleges in Afghanistan and no jobs for college educated people.
