Is diversity so much more important than having the right person for the job? Especially when it comes to being the PM.

This isn’t 2012 anymore, buddy. Trolls have been replaced by people who actually believe things like this.
TheMaskedTom t1_j62md86 wrote
They exist, but I dispute the fact they replaced trolls. The number of lonely, sad people only getting kicks out of aggressive reactions has gone up since 2012 not down.
Hell, if anything they are even many more of them now, because it's a paid occupation.

I think that if you don’t consider diversity then you’re not choosing the right person.

Who said they didn’t? But you’re not answering my question.

As I’ve said. You can’t have one without the other. If you’re choosing to elect a straight white male to replace a strong independent woman for PM then you have to ask if you’re perpetuating violence against women and minorities because you feel you have the “right” person.

So how do you know there’s a more diverse and more experienced person out there that’s able to replace Ardern?
MaybeACoder007 t1_j62h49o wrote
If there isn’t then having the position be vacant until said person is found is the only correct choice. No person is better than the wrong person.
Setstream_Jam t1_j62hs0g wrote
Which, if you’re going to be honest to yourself, isn’t possible. There needs to be a PM in order to form a government.
So you can’t have it vacant. Now what?

There is no reason any of these members should have been overlooked in the position of PM. They are far more qualified than who was chosen.

Besides the two who don’t have or had ministerial positions, why are the two that do more qualified than Chip?
MaybeACoder007 t1_j62kztj wrote
Because they don’t invoke violence against women or minorities by becoming PM.
I’m also sure they’re just overall better people for the job because they didn’t get their original position due to male or colonizer privilege.
Setstream_Jam t1_j62l2zd wrote
Right. Did the women in question have filed a police report for the invocation of violence against them due to them being women?

Sadly the patriarchy doesn’t recognize the violence they commit as violence.
