Paris to Kyiv is 1,262 miles.
And this is happening in Romania, not Paris.

Hey why am I not hearing about any French tanks being sent to Ukraine? Or is it because they don’t want them? Seriously asking.
GrumpyOldIncontinent t1_j5zdayf wrote
There are ongoing discussions between Paris and Kyiv on that matter.
The bottom line is that France only has 226 functioning Leclerc tanks and the production line for them has stopped for some time.
What could be possible is that a small possible portion of them could be delivered to Ukraine, which I guess is better than nothing.
But don’t expect enough to really make a solid difference

It would be better for the British and French to move their Tanks to the Polish border. So more of the Leopards can be delivered.

Assuming that PiS wants to deliver any significant number of modern tanks. They haven't said anything about their application since Germany announced the commitment of German Leopards.

Giving Ukraine a 3rd type of high tech tanks would be a maintenance supply chain nightmare.
France should send a good portion of their 228 Leclerc to protect Poland so Poland can give all their Leopard 2’s to Ukraine.

Because France has a very set limited number of vehicles of their own design.
Once the UK sent challengers they were basically out of the running to send Leclerc because either are kind of bad options from both domestic and Ukrainian Pov's.
It's just another separate supply line to establish for Ukraine and a new leak in one of the two most important European militaries to plug.

> SMARDAN, Romania - Around 600 French soldiers deployed as part of a NATO battlegroup in Romania held a combat exercise on Wednesday to test the 30-nation military alliance's readiness on its eastern flank, amid Russia's war in neighboring Ukraine.
> Romania's defense ministry said the main purpose of the exercise is to train the battlegroup "On the rapid deployment capability and execution of a combat mission" within a collective NATO defense operation.
> In response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine last February, NATO bolstered its presence on Europe's eastern flank, including by sending additional multinational battlegroups to alliance members Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Slovakia.
