This is what's really irritating as a US tax payer. We subsidize Western Europe's defense.

Because the article specifically references supporting Shuttle operations. You use ERP and MRP systems for that.

You realize Oracle makes more than just databases right? Like, I'm pretty certain NASA didn't overspend just for database software.
They were likely using their ERP or manufacturing systems. While the data gets stored in a database, it's the compliance, workflow and other aspects of the software that make it valuable.

I once absolutely crushed an HP sales rep's ego. I was sitting next to him in a conference room, and he started making fun of my MacBook. I just looked over at his HP Elitebook and said it looked awful lot like my Mac.

Yeah no lawyer worth a shit is going to let their client plead guilty right off the rip. Even if you are 1000% guilty and everyone knows it.

If it's a company like Republic, it goes to a sort center where the material is separated and processed further.
Plastic should really just go into an incinerator though. We operate clean incinerators in the US.
There are a few places that take it and make products out of it though. There's a company that will turn it into plastic decking for building patio decks with.
Big part of the problem with Plastic is that China undercut the market for so long, all of the plants that processed it in the US went bankrupt. Then China stopped taking it so now we're all fucked.
