I try my hardest to convince my wife of this. For example, if she cooks a meal for friends and they compliment she’ll immediately downplay it. “Oh the brussel sprouts are soggy” or “I didn’t get the spices the way I like it.” She simply cannot take a compliment. I understand she’s trying to be humble and avoid bragging, but not receiving a compliment almost insults the people who offer the compliment. Simply say “thank you” and move on.
