Sounds like a good lesson in persistence and resilience.

This is really interesting to me, because every time a post comes up raving about BIFL expensive socks, I always have the same thought:
I wear quarter socks. I buy three kinds -- black, blue and brown. I have three milk crates on the shelf above my dryer that I keep them in. I bought the kinds that are come in packs and come out to about $1/pair.
And ... I couldn't be happier. It's a perfect system.
I've gotten rid of one or two here and there, but I will say that I can't fathom going through 100 socks in 8 years. That seems like a lot.

I have a suggestion that's a bit different than others here.
I actually genuinely like the Costco Kirkland brand jeans.
- I like the way they look. They are just basic, understated jeans.
- They are very, very durable. I have no quality issues with them at all; and even if I did, I could just return or exchange them.
- They cost about ... thirteen dollars. No, that is not a misprint.
I don't just like them because of the price, I actually genuinely like them. My other jeans are Levi's 541s, but I find myself almost never wearing them.

Exactly what I was going to guess. I climbed up there one time.
