Oil engineer here. Bonus fact: some of the reticency from refiners to add bioethanol to gasoline is that it increases RVP, to they can push less cheap butane inside it.
Then they tried to pass it as "potential motor issues in case of too high water in the ethanol". The only real issue with some old cars is corrosion, new cars are perfectly fine as shown by flexfuels.
