Plenty of advantages to using your credit cards. Namely I'm using someone else's money. So if it's lost/stolen/wrongly charged, I'm not out anything. I NEVER use my debit card connected to my bank account anymore. Only thing on that bank statement are credit card payments and rent.

Reply to comment by Knipfty in How much should i contribute to my retirement fund if I am a 20-something living with my parents? by montymole724
20k at his age is too much. At worst it might cost him 2k to secure an apartment and furnish it. Also, Roth is only doable up to the income maximum, he should be setting up a 401k first due to the higher contribution limit and no income cap. Roth as a bonus until they can't contribute anymore.

Reply to If I get paid bi-weekly, what would the implications be if I asked my boss for pay for the first week of the pay period? by BadLuckShoesie
Doubtful, this is what savings and/or credit cards are for. Or worst case, a friend or family member that can front you the cost.

Reply to How accurate is Credit Karma by CASTePhYRusIO
Credit Karma is more for monitoring, erroneous information, identity theft, etc. Yeah their score is "ballpark" but it uses a different model than FICO does so discrepancies and differences are common. I would encourage everyone to use a free credit monitoring program like CK but also regularly request FICO scores that typically are provided for free from credit card companies to have a more complete view of your overall credit score.
