The nearest star is only about 4 ly away, so you'd be seeing 4 years into the past.

You're giving a small percentage of people way too much importance. Most of them probably don't even know why they hate them, it just became trendy.
Bono's charitable causes, which are many, seem to piss some people off so that's one indication of what the people who appear to hate him are like.
One of the best and most successful bands ever. Achtung Baby all by itself enough to eclipse most bands whole careers.
