You know what? I was about to say no. Then I thought about it and realised that when I was in my early 20s I was a super active member of a Buffy forum and had friends as young as 14, and now - 20 years later - they're still some of my close friends, I attended their weddings etc.
So apparently yes, given the right context. The group also had lots of people my own age and all the way to to significantly older (again, who I'm still friends with).
