So? Neural networks were invented in 1943. The first chatbot was created in 1966. It does not mean that AI has not advanced in knowledge by datamining the internet. AI can be used in harmful ways, AI can be used to create very realistic fake news stories and photos. Creating an AI that is smarter than humans is a really stupid idea if you do not have strong safeguards in place. Respected scientists, researchers and IT techs have warned about AI again and again. IT can and will cause loss of jobs if it isn't curtailed by regulations. Only the foolish jump ahead without thinking of future consequences.

You have an interesting definition of old. One news story about it from BBC is only two years old.

There are AI's that have been given patients history and examinations and it came up with more accurate diagnosis then the doctors. Medicine is an art not a science. I dislike it being minimized as if it was something easy to pass. You have to know how medicine works what it does and doesn't interact with, surgery risks and complications, diseases, diagnosis etc. There is a lot a Doctor has to know. Even the grades they need to get in college and medical school are pretty strict.

I am not real crazy about the speed that science, AI and robotics are progressing. We are entering uncharted waters without any kind of anchor. Guardrails have not been put up. The world is not ready to transition into a workless society. IF AI ever does become self-aware we may find ourselves with a genie that can't be put back into the proverbial bottle. All countries including socialist and communist ones like Russia and China tax their people. There are only 23 countries that do not directly tax their people. The massive unemployment that may follow will cause a huge increase in taxes to support the unemployment and retraining of people. Tech is taking away jobs now faster than it is creating them. Not even Russia and China will appreciate the upheaval this may create.

You have no conception of how medicine works. By its very nature it is a art and not a science. Not all meds work the same way for everyone. There are side effects and risks. I did study medicine. No, it is not only rote memorization. Yes, it does require intelligence. You are insulting everyone who works in the medical field. I am done discussing this with you.

Okay so if it is so easy why don't you become one? Doctors and lawyers have the equivalent of a PHD in order to get their licenses. AI also has been creating stories, art, can "see" pictures, recognize voices etc. There is not a whole lot left that robots and AI can't do. Also, Neural Networks are patterned after the brain and even IT techs will tell you that they do not completely understand how it works.

There is AI that can pass entrance exams for doctors and lawyers. So yes, job loss is coming and unless governments put a stop to it our entire society will be changed, and it won't be an easy or cheap transition either.

I give up. No one is taking the threat AI poses seriously. Everyone wants to be the first one to create an artificial god who probably won't be very benevolent. Never mind the human cost of losing jobs and the increase in taxes all but 23 countries will have to enforce to pay for the rising unemployment this will create. The tech companies lied about only going after boring and dangerous jobs. All jobs are at risk now.

Do you really think stocks will survive a workless society? I don't see that as happening. AI and robotics can already replace a lot of jobs and even more will be replaced if we do not put a halt to this. Do any of you want to pay the huge increase in taxes that will be caused by people losing their jobs?

The mere fact that humans create and control it is enough reason to be concerned with its potential for harm.

I had a mistep of my own. I order some lube and forgot to double check the shipping address at walmart. I ended up sending it to my kid who opened it and asked why I sent it to her. I was mortified and embarrassed. She also thought it was funny but I didn't. I felt horrible.

Sigh yes I have had similar experiences when i was a kid. I wanted an Ouija board. Me and my friends played with it. To make a long story short it ruined all of our families. My family suffered the worst. We even moved and it followed us. IT did not stop until I became a Christian. I firmly believe that there are no ghosts hanging around. I believe they are fallen angels pretending to be a ghost. They are evil, vicious and cruel. You don't want to mess with them believe me I would not wish what happened to us on anyone.

Cheating is cruel no matter who does it. Cheaters always tell the other person bad things about you because they are trying to sooth the other persons fears. She may or may not truly feel that way but staying with her when she is cheating is putting your own life at risk now. Why? Because old STD's are coming back antibiotic resistant. IT is not safe to be with someone who sleeps around.

Well the companies that create it should pay them. AI itself does not earn money.
