Reply to If you own a car in DC, which insurance company had the cheapest quote? by SnooTomatoes1428
GEICO has been jacking up their rates in the area, so many folks have been moving away from them. Progressive and Erie seem to be popular choices.

I work with a lot of female Consultants, PMs, and Engineers. Your descriptions are very accurate, and it's universal, not just in DC.

I was born in DC and on formal documents I use “District of Columbia” as the city.

Reply to Why don't DC drivers get over to the empty lane when they see drivers trying to merge into their lane? by jdschmoove
Either because I need to get off at the next exit, am driving slower than traffic to my left, or because I’m towing something that won’t allow me to make abrupt lane changes. As the one merging, the yield is on you, but as long as you’re signaling your intent, I will maintain speed and give you room to slide in. Anyone who closes the gap on someone trying to merge is just an asshole.

West Virginia. Take 48 from Strasburg, VA to Davis, WV, or go to Seneca Rocks/Spruce Knob.

Can’t answer for them specifically, but I see it as someone who has access to a tool and they are willing to take the time to use that tool to help someone else. Kind of like that one guy on the block who has a snowblower that rarely gets used, but when we get a blizzard, he’s out there clearing all the neighbors driveways.
