Reply to [OC] Fatal Police Shootings in the US: Racial disparities. In absence of racial differences, the probability of fatal police encounters would be the same across racial groups. It is not. Black/African Americans are 4.5 times more likely to have a fatal encounter with the police than Asian Americans. by HitchHux
"In the absence of [Variable], the results would be the same across [Variable]."
Technically correct, but the statement is meaningless. The assumption that we can reliably design statistical controls for something as pervasive to society as racial differences is rather optimistic, to say the least

Reply to [OC] Nuclear energy production from 1965 to 2021 in US, UK, France, Germany, and Japan by highcharts
It's a nice animation, but I think you missed a great opportunity to have the ring expand and contract according to the total power output. This would let viewers see both relative share of nuclear power and, crucially, the amount of nuclear power actually being produced.

Does this account for the proportion of population that is X being certain to have positive views about people who are X? Because that's a rather important adjustment to make, before drawing any correlation to general public attitudes!

I love this data presentation - it might not be the clearest to read, but the overall effect is really beautiful and fits this sub much better than the usual post.
