Same with the Cuyahoga River by me. You can fish it and kayak on it all the way through Cleveland now.
Only the Gorge Dam is left, once removal of it and the contaminated sediment is completed over the next five years the river should have a completely unimpeded flow again like it did long ago.

He was a hardworking emperor, lowering taxes, reducing spending, and demonstrating tolerance for Muslims. His son, however, had a haram so large, some starved. by Flares117
He sounds a lot like the Roman emperor Antoninus Pius, similarly not well-remembered despite being a very competent, good ruler who presided over one of the longest stretches of peace in Roman history.

The Shamsīyah, a sect of sun-worshippers, persisted in southeastern Turkey (sometimes outwardly adopting Christian customs) until the early 1900s. by RexSueciae
It's really interesting to see the developments in Hellenic paganism during this time, especially the movement towards a more monist conception of God with a focus on Sol Invictus.

Nicotine is a pretty potent anti-inflammatory chemical with some potential in treating both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease, as well as ulcerative colitis.

Charlie and His Orchestra was an interesting counterpart to this...a Nazi German swing band who made some very hate-filled parodies of contemporary songs.

Haha, I've had the Grand Tour of Ohio during my lifetime so I know exactly what you're talking about. I grew up in the Cincinnati area, went to college at OSU, and live in NEO now.
These drive-thru convenience stores are all over the place. The only thing that sucks about NEO is the nearest Skyline is down in Mayfield...

That sums it up perfectly. The KJV is an absolute work of art on par with Jerome's Vulgate translation and has had enormous influence on the English language and culture.
In fact a Catholic edition of the KJV was just recently published showing its influence to the present day.

The naumachia under the Augustus and other early emperors were as far in the past for the people living in 9th century Rome as the Middle Ages are to us today. The last gladiator battles were outlawed in the late 4th century by Theodosius I.
Good for him.
