Caesar knew the value of drama. Which is a bigger impact on the common people: parading a guy around for a few hours then giving him a house to chill in for the rest of his life, or killing him in front of the citizens who were told stories about his tenacity for years?

Not particularly. I always just go with whatever sounds interesting.

I always viewed the end as sort of Crozier's brain hallucinating until it shuts down and he dies by freezing to death. We go straight into his head and experience his death with him, as him.

It's a great companion to The Terror.

Love it. It's flawed but it's such an interesting vibe. Definitely one of Dan's best.

Depends on the story. It matters a lot more to me if I'm reading crime fiction than it does with sci-fi or fantasy.

Great Book. I had it figured out before the end, but it didn't lessen the impact.
Though I did get an edition where the pages were bound out of order. There were something like five total sets of pages and instead of it being 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 it was 1, 2, 4, 3, 5.

It's his weakest book by far. For me he still hasn't topped Perdido Street Station or The Scar

Why do they keep doing this study? It's like seven of these things are posted every year with the same result.

Hyperion is being adapted. Finally. Hopefully well.

I'm constantly amazed at how few of his stories get adapted.

It biodegrades into nothing after a few hours or days. Been mentioned in stories before.

That problem cropped up beginning with Murrow, which is long before this dude. And Kronkite had no problem giving his opinion. His famous Vietnam episode for example.

Reply to How do you guys read books? by HalboAngel
No need to get all cerebral and plan an attack or anything. Just read shit you're interested in and you'll finish it. Don't be a backseat driver in your own head about how slow or fast you're going. Just read.
That said there are times when I can't focus enough and just can't find a fuck to give. And there are times (like this week) when I can plow through a book a day.
And you're going to forget a lot of what you read no matter how interested you are in the story. That's just how brains work.
