If it’s because you work in Manhattan, There are plenty of cheaper places with easy access to the city. The Jersey City premium is about living in a city.

So why do you live here?

Getting bikes might make the transition to car free life a little easier, and also save on the Uber budget. Jersey City has a growing network of bike lanes - biking has become safer and easier every year since I moved here.

I live in the neighborhood! Lafayette has a lot of character and a few cool businesses but overall is much quieter and has less going on than bed-stuy. Whether you see that as a plus or minus is up to you. Expect to regularly bike or hop the light rail downtown for groceries, nightlife, etc.

And Bayonne only has clear borders because of a highway built in the 1950s! Your average person would not be able to tell you where Secaucus ends and the industrial parts of North Bergen and Jersey City begin.

Lots of NYC McDs have walk up windows these days. It allows them to close the dining room at night.

I have no clue why they want to shovel all this money at this dumb highway instead of fixing Nj Transit.

Solomon yes. Gilmore though has been a major NIMBY, allying with the likes of Boggiano to try to take down the Affordable Housing Overlay.

The whole point of living in Newark vs JC, Hoboken etc. is so you aren’t paying $3000/month for a two bed. Who is going to rent these?
