Since water does not enter or leave the earth's atmosphere, it never loses or gains amounts. There is no shortage of water. People hell bent on living in deserts redistribute water yes, but it is physically impossible to "waste" water. Because it is constantly recycled.

Reply to TIL that the redwood tree the Julia Butterfly Hill lived in for 2 years in the 1990’s was badly damaged by vandals in 2000 who cut almost halfway through the tree with a chainsaw. A bracing was made to keep the tree stable and it will likely survive. by triviafrenzy
