What was this unresponsive behavior you're talking about? Did the whole thing not respond to the knob turning or was it just the sound not working, or both? I ask because I only had this happen to me once, where the Element III was plugged in, my PC went to sleep, and after it woke up it no sound came out. Restarting it fixed it.

Yup, it really is that good. And they updated the EQ to 20 bands recently, which is just crazy. Not even the RME ADI-2 DAC does that.

If using EQ is cheating, then I have been cheating for a very long time.

I also like the 58X better than the other HD6 series. I used the 650 for years, 58X improves upon it with tighter bass and less forward upper midrange. On top of that, I also agree the 660S sound basically the same (except more bass extension on the 58X).
