Acupuncture is no better than a placebo. Other placebos also have demonstrated benefit, but they're by-and-large not covered. Acupuncture is only covered because people believe that it isn't a placebo.

Just because it's covered doesn't mean it's based on science. Health insurance companies cover plenty of alternative "medicines". Not because they work but because their customers want them.

This is a devil that had to be allowed in the law to get it passed so that more Americans could have access to healthcare. They needed the insurance company's blessing. Because private corporations have so much control over the political system that we can't write laws to stop them from doing evil things.

Chiropracty is not science. Every single chiropractor is a quack. Your doc referred you to a quack. You need to get a new doctor. Same with acupuncture. Physical therapy, however, is supported by science.

Google maps didn't have it. Gaia GPS tags it as Glacier Creek.

Yup, that's Glacier Creek coming out of the background joining the North Fork Toutle River in the foreground. Shot from Johnston Ridge.

Turning right on red is same as turning right at a stop sign. You didn't stop so you got ticketed. If you thought it was a yield situation that's a blinking yellow light, where if there's no traffic you don't need to stop.

Reply to comment by Ukinamtabbed in the aurora was visible from Central Washington last night! by aasmanijal
Aurora activity has nothing to do with the year or seasons on earth (although longer nights and clear skies help us see them). It's dependent on solar storm activity. We have satelites that monitor the Sun and it's weather. We even have solar weather forecasts that can predict aurora activity and locations.

My reaction with anything like this is that whatever the cost is to buy all that ad space is going to come out of your pocket if you choose them. Also, don't EVER let ads dictate your shopping experience. Do your own research, compare features and prices, and decide for yourself who provides the best product and services.

Reply to Why do sample return missions such as OSIRIS-REx use their own reentry vehicles instead of just going to the space station for pickup and return with ISS equipment? by PromptCritical725
Space is big, so a probe needs to go pretty fast to get anywhere in years instead of decades. Plus, a returning probe picks up a lot of kinetic energy falling back into Earth's gravity well. Carrying a heat shield and carefully smacking into the Earth's atmosphere is way more doable than carrying all the fuel it wound need to decelerate enough to park in low earth orbit. That fuel would need to be added to the payload at launch and be carried along for every maneuver, which means you'd need more fuel to move that fuel, then more fuel to move that fuel (the so-called tyranny of the rocket equation) Not to mention having to come in aligned with the ISS's orbit, or even worse having to do a plane change maneuver on top of decelerating, all of which would need fuel.

Glass reflects different wavelengths of light differently. House windows may also have an infrared-reflective composition or coating (for more efficient cooling in warm sunny weather).

Don't be that guy. Just pick which two cars you're gonna put on it, and get another pass if you have to. I know it's not your state, but it's nature and we all want to ensure access to it.

My local shop was able to do ATM-like transactions at the register. If I bought something for $44, they would charge $45 and give me a dollar back. So it wasn't a direct POS charge with a bank like usual.

For nine months I round-tripped that stretch almost every week for a long distance relationship. I can't say I've met that level of crazy, but my god the amount of people parked in the left lane blocking traffic! It's two lanes. GET THE FUCK OVER IF YOU'RE NOT PASSING! AND IF YOU ARE PASSING HURRY THE FUCK UP AND PASS! It's even the law for fuck sake. With signs and everything. Right there for you to read. You paid for them to be installed! Read them!

Reply to Where to get Sun in the Winter? by Ok-Gift-7013
You mostly need to cross the Cascades. The other half of WA is in a rain shadow. It can still get cloudy over there, though, so look for things that you like to do, reasons for you to go over there, then periodically check the weather forecasts for sunny days to go. If you're looking for warmth, though, sunny doesn't always mean warmer weather. The sun helps, but the air can still be pretty cold.
