The difference between being the worst team on the league and the 13th team in the league doesn’t really matter. Owners paying an extra twenty million to a fired coach is just the cost of doing business. Making a “safe” hire on “team friendly” deal is not as desirable as blowing a bunch of money to lock in a potentially great, young talent that takes you to the promised land at the top.
