Reply to Let's talk about how Sinister is probably one of the scariest horror movies of all time by VeryBonelessPizza
I honestly don't remember large chunks of sinister especially towards the end, but everything to do with the MC finding and watching the tapes is absolutely harrowing. I remember being so tense watching this guy in a dark attic (where anything could pop out) watch that super creepy silent footage. The slow motion ghost children stuff didn't do it for me nor did the ending (it makes sense, just that it didn't spook me) but man if the bits with the footage and the footage itself arent incredibly well done and creepy. Agree, sinister is underrated for sure. It's also one of those movies really enhanced by cutting away before the gore hits, aka 'yard work'

My friend and I are going through a ton of 80s-90s comedies so we've watched several that reviewed way harsher then we expected. The Coneheads is probably one of our favorites, but we've enjoyed a lot of the bad ones more then some of the classics. Meatballs and Animal House were a struggle. 😂

Dan Aykroyd in the film Neighbors which is a crazy ride start to finish and I feel like more people need to see. Like he has such a goofy nice guy image that to see him in an unhinged and really pretty menacing role was a trip. My friend and I watched it for the first time with absolutely no clue where it was going to go, we kept wondering if it was going to turn into like a horror- comedy situation. his character is just that strange and unpredictable. the only thing I could compare it to is maybe Jim Carrey in The Cable Guy.
He also has this bleached blonde hair and the most intense blue eye contacts you've ever seen, which looks incrediblely uncanny and adds to the unease of it all.

Trading Places and Ghostbusters 2 for Christmas/New years. I know both have one of the two holidays fairly prominent but I don't think they were ever advertised as such.

Reply to Canadian low-budget horror film Skinamarink is incredible. But lower your expectations by BurstYourBubbles
I in no way had any idea it was going to be two hours of hallway shots and whispering, my friend and I definitely went in expecting a traditional film and hated this. It's not that experimental film isn't great, but it's not our cup of tea and didn't expect it from a wideish release.
That said I was genuinely terrified for a large chunk of it, I left the theater feeling so tense that I was shaking. Unfortunately dark hallway shots and whispering really mess me up lol
So I guess it was the most boring experience I ever had while being genuinely scared.
