Come hang out with us at the Richmond Film Network! It’s a monthly screening of short films at Movieland (next one is mid April) but afterwards there’s a great networking/hangout at a bar afterwards where you can meet some of the filmmakers that made said shorts, or meet plenty of RVA film folks who are there to just talk shop. It started in November and each month it keeps getting bigger and bigger. It’s from the same folks who are involved in the Richmond 48 Hour Film Project, which happens later this Summer.

Couldn’t agree more with this statement. I work in video production and have been watching one guy buy at least $30k worth of camera bodies and another $10-20k in lightd and audio due to him feeling like he doesn’t have exactly what he needs to make a short film. It’s been five years and all I’ve seen from him are some camera test videos he’s posted on his Facebook.

Meanwhile I’ve seen short films in festivals that were shot with a whole setup (lights, camera, audio) that was under 5k and they’re being seen by countless people.

Anyway, also agree with the entry level DSLR. That and a decent 50mm prime lens would only be a few hundred bucks. Certainly a lot less than the newest iPhone.

Was loading the car with presents this morning to head up north to see family, then felt like I just wanted to crawl back into bed. Took two COVID tests and both were positive. Brought said presents back inside and spending Christmas at home instead of family. Trying to make the best of the situation by making a list of movies/video games to watch and play, and loading up on healthy food.
