When I was a kid, Portsmouth NH some sort of horn blew when school was canceled, and my grandfather would listen for it and then call my mom and my aunt, both of whom had kids in Portsmouth, to proclaim "no school" This was the 1970s

The C&J goes to Portsmouth, but it's the old Pease Airforce base, so if you need to go to City Hall, you'll need to uber or take a cab from there.

Lifelong New Englander. I only learned what a King cake was when I watched the creepy show on Apple TV called "Servant" where Leanne makes one. I had never heard of it before then. That said, I think I saw one in Market Basket in Cheslea on Saturday. No idea if it contains the baby.

For the first few years I lived here (moved from NH) I would only drive in certain areas where I really knew the road.

It IS a teacher hang up. I come from a family of Catholics and we say "oh my God" all the time. My mother is also fond of saying "Jesus, Mary and Joseph!" when upset or "Mother of God". Oh my God isn't a swear.

I think you can, I heard the rain will have stopped by then, and the trucks will be out icing before the freeze hits.

Try contacting these two 7 news emails - I watch the morning local news and they often will investigate and cover stories like this and get people's money back. Worth a shot?

I used to commute from Boston to Burlington by car. I gave myself an hour each way, usually in the morning it took 35 minutes and 45 to an hour home. The biggest hold up being around Alewife. Look at Allston, Cambridge, Watertown, Arlington for places close to route 2

You will be fine. There are some rough sleepers and idle folks who hang around Central Square who may ask for money but you can just say no or keep walking. Cambridge is very safe. If the area in downtown Boston where you will be is near the Boston Common, just make sure to be alert around that area as well after dark.
