Since you brought it up and in continued fairness, most of those cases the average person would have little to no idea or access to all forms of media that any person created. It isn't until true mass media that you see household names become increasingly more common.

I think you misunderstand the important world here, Media. He was very likely the first, or at least the first to make it popular to be both a famous recording musician as well as also be a famous film star. Meaning his work was on some sort of media, Film and Records. That would not be the case with play actors who are even now not commonly record on either media.
