Yes, I got to learn a lot of great music taping this alternative radio show when I was a teen (Villa 65, VPRO radio, NL). Not always got the name of the band on tape so wondering for decades which band it was. A few years ago I was doing stage monitors for Sebadoh, and they started playing one of those songs.

I have the opposite issue with a certain well beloved song, so this opinion will probably give me a lot of downvotes, but I really don't like the chorus in Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb.

I like the verses and the lead guitar sections, but find the chorus so cheesy and sugary with its major chords and '80s sounding synth.

Does it have to be recent?

Bettie Serveert - Palomine from 1992 is my all time favourite album from The Netherlands.

It's jangly indie rock/pop with female vocals (without a hint of potato-english) and Neil Young-ish lead guitars. It's perfect in its imperfectness.

'I Can't Escape Myself' by The Sound. New wave/post punk from 1980

So many feelings pent up in here

Left all alone, I'm with the one I most fear

I'm sick and I'm tired of reasoning

Just want to break out, shake off this skin

I, I can't

Escape myself

All my problems loom larger than life

I can't swallow another slice

Seems like my shadow mocks every stride

I learn to live with what's trapped inside

I, I can't

Escape myself

So many feelings pent up in here

Left all alone, I'm with the one I most fear

I'm sick and I'm tired of reasoning

Just want to break out, shake off this skin

You're saying 'not many', handful of people'.

In 2021 vinyl sales where equal in volume and double in revenue (1 billion dollars and that's just counting US sales) compared to CD's and this increased in 2022, while vinyl almost died out in the '90s, so say whatever you want, you can't argue the fact that that's a huge comeback.

It's kind of famous for its abrupt ending :)

from Wikipedia; 'The final master lasted 8:04, but Lennon decided on a surprise ending. During the final edit with the guitars, drums and white noise climaxing endlessly, he told recording engineer Geoff Emerick to "cut it right there" at the 7:44 mark, bringing the song (and side one of Abbey Road) to an abrupt end.'

I really like my Sennheiser 559's. They are very sturdy, comfortable (I wear them for hours on end) and every part is replaceable if worn. They go for around 80 euro's/dollars. They do accentuate the bass though, so this might or might not be to your liking. They have a 3D quality to them thanks to their open design which is good for sound but bad for annoying people in public if you play music loudly.

The Sennheiser 599 is a bit more expensive at around 200 but i've seen them on sale for around 130. They are roughly the same design but fancier/prettier and get better reviews sound wise compared to the 559.
