I see it as a good time to finally leave Philadelphia. I’ve been here for 20+ years and another 15 in the region. I plan to move to a warmer climate after selling my home in the Spring. Philadelphia isn’t great without a bunch of friends to hang with and you definitely don’t want to live in a non-hip neighborhood. More than 50% of the city is a struggle. Palm Springs CA is my destination

I went to a Christmas party with them all and if felt strained. Like we were all just reminiscing over high school days or something. We are all much older, just using this as an example

Is council offering any views on heroin addicts living on the El or the stairwell at the Allegheny station being taken over by dealers. It’s gotten so bad I’m back to driving.

I have to stop thinking that life will return to pre-Covid times and learn to live differently. I used to be a part of a large friend group and that sorta melted away. So, this year felt lonely as fuck. I expected it to return but everyone had moved on.

I’d try to respond to that but I skimmed the article and it automatically made me think about all the useless tests my doctors office has me take. Like it’s standard procedure for my blood to get tested for drugs every time I go in. I’m a stroke survivor and haven’t done any drugs in 20 years. It’s bureaucracy for the sake of bureaucracy. I suppose something has to subsidize that.

You obviously don’t know much about the area then. The western side of Frankford (Northwood) is one of the more beautiful areas of the city. It’s already nice.

Petco in Port Richmond but you would still have to get an Uber. Can’t say they have a great selection but hey did have some really pretty Jack Dempsey and other African Cyclids the last time I looked

$2.9m seems like a good price for such a prominent location. Rip it down and build a condo tower. Probably something they will do in 10 years but a non-profit buying the space means they don’t have to pay property taxes. Scam anyone? I’m sure they will happily sell it to a developer for $4m at any point.

Not to mention there are already two different health care centers which specialize in HIV care that are only a few blocks away. I’d rather see it become a Burger King.

I always wonder where the money from these suits ends up. I’m sure very little goes to help the people with addiction or the cities trying to cope with homelessness and the crimes surrounding addiction. It mainly goes in the pockets of lawyers

I’m 100% for improving neighborhoods along the subway corridors. I know of many younger people who have chosen to purchase homes in Kensington because it’s affordable. Frankford has an even better chance of becoming a really nice part of the city but it needs solid investment. That’s only going to come from change through redevelopment. Septa is currently working with the Frankford CDC to purchase the commercial properties across from the terminal. Everything will be raised for a new mixed development of apartments and commercial. I’m excited about redevelopment because it helps end the decades of racial segregation. Mixed neighborhoods should be the goal.

I meant commercial below residential. Not necessarily a grocery, although I’m sure a Lidl or Aldi would be welcomed. The prices in most of those markets are $$$

I think the greyhound terminal should be moved to Frankford. Demo all the shitty commercial buildings across from the Terminal and put it there. Frankford Terminal has the MFL and connection to many city bus routes. There is plenty of land to build a bus terminal. Why should it be in Center City?

Meh. You just seem like a dick. You don’t have to restate you think I’m an idiot. I’m just happy I didn’t buy bitcoin in the last year. You can’t even admit it was a good move on my part.

I’m 57, retired at 55. I put my money in real estate and Berkshire Hathaway and my partner is a nerd computer guy. Trust me when I says he’s smarter than you. My partner and I aren’t really risk takers but we certainly have done very well. He’s still working because he loves his job. He plans to retire in two years and we are off to live in Palm Springs. My partner before him was a stock broker so I do know a thing or two about investment.
So, while I may not fully understand blockchain technology, I know it’s still in its infancy and will take possibly decades to fully implement. Investing in early technology is risky as fuck. It’s not for people who have money to lose. Stop trying to sell Bitcoin. If it’s going to emerge it needs to be stable. That, it certainly is not the case now.

Ha, you accused me of cherry-picking. This is hilarious. I can explain that 5k number, but I won’t. If you are so smart. Tell me how I arrived at that number….genius.
Also, I’m so happy for you that you have something to focus on other than anything else I’ve said.
